Auto-Publish Daily Rides: Set Up Your Commute Once

How daily rides work in ShareSpace Carpool: who they suit, how to plan your route and time, and tips for keeping a recurring commute simple.

A calm morning routine with coffee and car keys on a table

If you drive or ride the same route on most workdays, entering the same trip every morning gets old fast. ShareSpace Carpool has a daily ride option built for exactly this. You describe your commute once, and the app takes care of the repetition. Drivers can have their ride published automatically each day, and riders can request the same ride every day. This guide explains who the feature is for, how to think about setting it up, and a few habits that make a recurring carpool work better.

What daily rides and auto-publish actually do

There are two sides to the feature, and they match the two ways people use the app.

  • For drivers: you enter your route and the time you travel, and your ride is published for you every day. Riders can then find and book it without you posting a new ride each morning.
  • For riders: you enter the route and time you need, and you are matched to rides every day instead of searching again each time.

In both cases you stay in control. You can edit or stop a daily ride at any time from your profile, so a recurring ride is never a permanent commitment. It is a shortcut for a routine you already have.

Who benefits most from a recurring carpool

Daily rides suit people whose schedules repeat. Typical examples include commuters who travel to the same office, campus or job site at about the same time, and people whose return trip is also predictable. Drivers who already make the trip and have open seats can share the cost without any extra routine. Riders who want a steady option, rather than hunting for a ride each day, may find the recurring setup less stressful.

If your schedule changes a lot from week to week, you may prefer to post or search for individual rides instead. If you are still figuring out how the app works, the getting started guide is a good place to begin before setting up something recurring.

How to set up your daily ride

Setup starts on the Home screen. Under the prompt asking whether you have the same commute every day, tap I'm driving if you offer the ride, or I need rides if you are looking for one. From there you enter your route and the time you travel. A few things are worth thinking through before you save it:

  1. Pick a realistic pickup and drop-off. Choose points that are easy to reach and easy to stop at, not only the exact front door of your home or office.
  2. Choose a departure time you can actually keep. A time you hit most days is more useful than an ideal time you rarely meet. Riders plan around it.
  3. Think about seats. If you drive, offer the number of seats that is comfortable for you and your vehicle.
  4. Review the price. Prices in the app follow a cost-sharing limit, and the app shows the limit while you set the price. For more on how that works, see carpool cost sharing explained.

Once your daily ride is saved, drivers' rides are published for you every day and riders are matched to rides every day.

Tips for keeping a daily carpool reliable

A recurring ride works best when the people involved can rely on it. These habits can help.

  • Review it when your routine changes. If you start a new job schedule, move, or change vehicles, update your daily ride so it matches reality.
  • Stop it during time away. Before a vacation or a long stretch of remote work, you can edit or stop the daily ride from your profile so riders are not expecting a trip that is not happening.
  • Use in-app chat to coordinate. Pickup spots, small delays and changes are easier to sort out in a message. You never need to share your phone number.
  • Rate your rides. Ratings after each ride help everyone judge who they want to travel with.
  • Plan the week, not just the day. A short look at your upcoming schedule helps you notice days when you will not travel. Our weekly commute planning guide shows one way to do this.

Riding every day: what to expect

If you are the rider, a daily request means you do not start from scratch each morning. You set your route and time once, and the app works to match you with rides that fit. Matching depends on whether drivers are offering a ride that lines up with your route and time, so it can take a little patience, especially in the first days. Being a bit flexible on pickup or timing may widen your options. If a particular day does not work out, you can still search for a one-off ride or request a ride from the Home screen.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to publish a ride every day myself?

No. When you set up a daily ride as a driver, your ride is published for you every day. You only need to return to the setup if you want to change or stop it.

Can I change or stop a daily ride later?

Yes. You can edit or stop a daily ride at any time from your profile. This is useful if your route, time or availability changes.

Does a daily ride promise me riders or a ride?

No. A daily ride saves you the repeated setup, but whether a match happens depends on who else is traveling your way at that time. Staying flexible and keeping your details current can help.

If your week follows a pattern, a daily ride can save you a few minutes every morning and make your carpool feel more like a routine than a chore. Download ShareSpace Carpool, enter your commute once, and see how much simpler regular carpooling can be.
